The story focuses on Detective Sam Porter’s efforts to catch crazy, calculating Anson Bishop, the prime suspect in a seemingly never-ending series of killings. But there is much more to their interconnected lives than initially appears, making Porter a prime suspect in the murders he wants to solve. Winton narrates Bishop’s diary, and his delivery is exceptional. Every time you hear his voice, you cringe at the underlying evil.
